About this paper:
This is a research paper I wrote for my Politics of the Middle East and North African course. It centers around the issue of sportswashing in Saudi Arabia. Particularly, it looks at Saudi Arabia’s use of sports and entertainment as a way of covering up atrocities committed by the regime. It also looks at how Vision 2030 contributes to sportswashing, while simultaneously being used to improve public health in Saudi Arabia.

This essay involved a lot of research regarding sports washing as a general issue as well as particularly in the case of Saudi Arabia. In this essay I had to research particular events, such as the WWE event which was held in Saudi Arabia during a controversial period. I also had to access and analyze Saudi Arabian governmental documents. This assignment gave me experience with analysis and greatly improved my academic writing skills. I paid a lot of attention to the style utilized, and wanted to be specific with the information I was sharing.
