Synopsis
This essay examines how different methods of decolonization impacted the development of two former British colonies. Both nations received independence around the same time, and had two completely different outcomes. One country had a peaceful transition to independence, while the other fought a war trying to prevent the advent of universal suffrage.

I had a lot of fun writing this paper. This was an in depth assignment, as it included a literature review and a comparative analysis between two different countries decolonization process. I had to fully understand the democratization process of both India and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe involved a lot of research as I needed to research the British colonial system in order to understand how the process of decolonization was carried out. The analysis was interesting as well, I concluded that the peaceful transition to democracy versus the violent one which occurred in Zimbabwe made the difference between a successful transition and an unsuccessful one.
